Our Intern Jordyn has created a list of the ways to make your Instagram profile stand out.
I’ve been searching for apps to up our Instagram game.
Here’s a list of a few that we thought might help YOU.
They Say: “Hype your Stories with automatically styled and designed motion typography.
Don’t use those tired tools that everyone else uses and expect your content to shine bright, like a diamond.
Short of words? We got you.
With the tap of a magical little button automatically pull random, meaningful quotes to give context to your story that may have not been there to start. ”
We Say: An awesome app to take your Instagram stories to the next level.
They Say: “Adobe Spark is a free online and mobile graphic design app. Easily create beautiful images, videos, and web pages that make you stand out on social”
We Say: This is our GO-TO app for all things social. Trust us on this one and download the app immediately, if not sooner!
They Say: “Just import a long video, and CutStory will cut it up and save it in your smartphone’s camera roll as fragments of 15 seconds or any other length”
We Say: Genious! Who hasn’t wanted their video to stop cutting out on Insta Stories, right at a critical moment?
Also, take a look at Continual which does the same thing!
Tell me, what apps are you loving at the moment? I’d be interested to discover more!

If you’re following Pursuit Communications on Instagram (if not, you’re missing out!!) you may have noticed our posts have changed tone.
Now, I’m not talking about the “tone” of voice, I’m speaking from a visual perspective.
I’ve changed the colour of the posts for a number of reasons, here I’ve listed the top three
- The “Pursuit Red” background (while I LOVE it) was just too harsh on the eye
- The pinkish tone I’ve chosen now, is feminine, it’s calmer, it’s “me”
- The new tone also allows me to include (and acknowledge) a greater selection of relevant and colour suitable posts from others in the Pursuit feed
I’m also undertaking a self-audit, testing new hashtags and constantly trying to improve our metrics.
So how has this helped my business Instagram presence?
Colours play a huge factor in engagement, as does the content (but that’s for another post!), I’d like to think what I’m offering is relatable, if not helpful and finally by being able to share other posts and connect with the people behind those posts, also allows for greater connection / network building.
There are so many elements to consider when creating a post on Instagram. It really does take time and effort.
If you’d like to know how we can help YOU with your social media presence, check out the range of services here.
This is a topic we’ve been discussing over on Instagram.
We shared a few ideas over there, so if you’re keen on specifics, take a look.
A more detailed examination is below.
The answer to this question depends on two factors.
Budget and ideas.
There’s really only one of those that in a majority of cases has restrictions. If you budget correctly, it needn’t have restrictions.
Ideas and possibilities come down to the creativity of the agency after planning a strategy that will meet the goals of your business needs and your budget requirements.
At Pursuit we operate on a “no cookie cutter approach”, meaning that each and every proposal we create for our clients is as unique as their business.
We listen to what our clients are saying, what they want to say through this public relations campaign, who they want to reach, their ideas on how we do this and after this, we brainstorm ideas and present a tailored proposal (within their budget!).
So are you interested in hearing how WE can help YOUR business?
We can for as little as $75.00. Yes, that’s right $75.

This week on our INSTAGRAM (link opens new tab!) account I’ve been highlighting the critical elements of Public Relations in 2017.
The Public Relations Institute of Australia (PRIA) defines Public Relations (PR) as: “the deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain mutual understanding between an organisation (or individual) and its (or their) publics. It’s the key to effective communication in all sectors of business, government, academic and not-for-profit.”
How does that translate into simple terms in 2017?
It’s the art of communicating.
Yes, I believe there is an art to communicating and getting your message across.
A “good” PR practitioner knows who (how to drill down to your audience) to target, where (which outlets) to target, when (when is the best time to reach these media outlets and when is the best time for placement) to target your message.
Given the ever-increasing dominance of social media, messages can and must be shared across these channels as part of a comprehensive and effective PR campaign.
There’s no argument that the media landscape is incredibly “noisy”, in that through channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat (to name a few) having your share of voice is becoming more difficult.
That being said, there IS a way to get your product or service seen by your ideal customers. Talk to the experts (that’s the Pursuit Communications team!) about how we can create a tailored service to meet and achieve your goals.
For as little as $75 you can have a consultation (link opens new tab!) with me, Brooke Simmons, to explore what options will best deliver results for your business.
BONUS:: BOOK a session now (we’ll talk over Skype or Facetime or over coffee if you’re between Newcastle & Sydney) and I’ll provide a FREE 10-minute social media makeover (or beginners tips if you’re just starting). Valid until 1/6/2017.
If you’ve joined me over on Instagram you would have seen my three tips for taking your Instagram account to the next level.
Here’s a wrap-up of what I covered.
- ROCK your biography. This is your chance to highlight what it is you do. Use strong words and make sure the link drives traffic to your product or service AND you’ve referred to it in your most recent post.
- Style your posts. Check out our feed as an example. Keep it consistent, don’t make it too hard to replicate (remember you’re going to be using this style day-in and day-out!) and make sure it’s easy on the eye. No harsh colours or hard to read fonts.
- Use other apps to UP your game. There are so many apps out there to make the most of your images. My current favourite app? Adobe Spark. It takes your images to the next level!
If you like these tips and you’re trying to decide which channel best suits you sign up to the “Which Social Media Channel is for Me” service. Alternatively, if you’re looking for more direction on Instagram or Facebook why not sign up to our Social Media Audit.
Another fantastic session with lots of attendees this afternoon in my 5pm Instagram chat.
Today I discussed – “Challenges” and the benefits of running one of these for your business.
We’ve all seen those challenges on social media, three days to a great body, 14 days to become your own sales rep and so on.
Are they beneficial? If you do run one, what do you get out of it? I discussed this and more.
*Share your “Challenge” with a specific audience, don’t just share it to everyone, make it specific and then target those customers.
*KIS – Keep It Simple – it will make the challenge more enjoyable for everyone (you and the participants)
*Prepare ALL your content in advance – This way you’ll be ready to go and won’t be frantically creating documents or content at the last minute and you’ll be lest likely to have errors!
I do have some ideas for some challenges I can hold and if you’d like more details CONTACT ME.
Next up I discussed ShadowBanning on Instagram
This seems to be affecting a lot of businesses on Instagram. So what is it? It’s when your hashtags become undiscoverable, therefore your posts can’t be found and you’ll notice a decrease in the number of likes.
*It’s POST BASED – NOT – account based
*There is a way to check if you’ve been shadowbanned, or if a particular post has been shadowbanned. CONTACT ME and I’ll send you the details.
*Logies discussion and Samuel Johnson winning the gold!
*Radio ratings results; Alan Jones return provides boost for 2GB, and the interesting results for FM radio.
That’s it for this week. Hope you all have a great weekend.
If you didn’t see yesterday afternoon’s FriYAY chat over on Instagram never fear, I’ll be hosting another FRIYAY chat on the 28th at 5.00 PM!
Here’s a summary of what you missed from yesterday.

Blogs / podcasts:
Next up I covered just some of the podcasts and blogs I listened to or read this week.

* Guy Kawasaki is an evangelist who also spoke at SMMW17, if you can listen to any of his previous talks I highly recommend it.
*The podcast regarding Instagram advertising is from Social Media Examiner – featuring Jenn’s Trends.
Finally, I covered three hot topics
*See my post on the Pursuit Facebook page about Mindy Kaling’s non-brand advertisement. I think it’s a winner.
*475 Visas and PR and marketing space, I shared my thoughts on this topic.
*LOGIES Weekend! Watch out #Melbourne I talked about who might nab the TV WEEK Gold Logie.
